Photography
I absolutely love photography and spend most of my spare time either shooting or editing photos. My main areas of interest are portraiture and travel photography (incl. land- and cityscapes). If you would like to have your portrait taken by me, feel free to contact me. I cannot make any promises, though.
Photos
Here are some of my most recent shots. Of course, you can click each thumbnail to view a high resolution version on Flickr.
You can view more of my photos on Flickr or on Instagram. These albums are good starting points to see what my photography is about (note: I do not share portraits online):
- NYC to Acadia (2016): an East Cost roadtrip with with major stops in Boston (MA), NYC (NY), Newport (RI), Provincetown (MA), Portsmouth (NH), Camden (ME), Bar Harbor / Acadia National Park (ME) and Portland (ME)
- NYC in Black & White (2016): two fun rolls of Kodak Tri-X shot in NYC using an Olympus XA rangefinder, incl. some street photography
- Lisbon on Film (2016): a week in Lisbon during which I did some experiments with the Olympus OM-4Ti's crazy metering system
- Ireland (2015): a roadtrip with major stops in Dublin, The Burren, Galway, Connemara and Inishmore
- Cologne (2013-ongoing): gives you an impression of where I live (city of Cologne, Germany)
Equipment
People often ask me what I am shooting with, so here's a non-comprehensive list of what I mostly use:
- Canon EOS DSLR cameras; most of the time with native Canon EF or EF-S lenses
- Mamyia RB67 Pro S and M645 medium format cameras, exclusively with Mamiya Sekor lenses
- Olympus OM 35mm SLR cameras; exclusively with Olympus Zuiko lenses
- Olympus rangefinder cameras, in particular 35RD, 35RC, XA and XA3
- Kodak Portra and Ilford HP5 Plus or Delta films
- Manfrotto tripods and tripod heads; Sirui monopod; Joby Gorillapod
- Hoya CPL and Haida ND filters
- Yongnuo speedlights (particularly the "strobist flash" YN560 Mark III) with Walimex light modifiers and stands
- A DUNCO 67 enlarger, Rodenstock and Schneider-Kreuznach enlarging lenses and Ilford paper
I edit all of my digital pictures using Adobe Lightroom. All of my black and white films are processed by yours truly, mostly in my bathroom using Kodak and Adox chemistry. Most of my C41 color films are processed by Rossmann, which I believe outsource this to Fujifilm. I scan all of my film using "modern classic" Nikon machinery. Yes, it is a lot of work.
Get in touch if you want to learn more or want to talk gear. But remember: it's not the equipment that takes the picture ;).
