BrittaBib - School Lending Library

The Erich Kästner Schule is a special school in Alfeld. A motivated teacher wants to reopen the abandoned lending library, which is to be administered with help of software. She found the freely available and reasonably priced alternatives to be insufficient for the needs of the school.

I developed a web-based lending library system.
On the one hand, it can be used by the students to browse through the catalog using categories or an integrated search engine and inform themselves about books. Books can also be discussed and rated.
On the other hand, teachers can maintain the catalog and have a lending system at their fingertips.
The specific requirements of the special school context were given a lot of attention during development (e.g. the difficulty is represented by a traffic light system that is understood by the students).

The lending library is a great success and the children like and make use of it. According to the teacher who runs it, the software has been a great help (at the moment there are more than 1,000 titles in the database).
My employer at that time, eSKa-tec GmbH, donated my work on this project. I have been maintaining and hosting this web application on my server for free ever since I left the company.
